Halle to Girona

DL_20180627_4926.jpg

In 2018, we decided to do our first 3000 km trip to the south of Spain. As we cannot be away from home for several months in 1 go, we have done the trip in 2 parts. First part from home to Girona in June, second part in October from Girona to Malaga.

This way you also avoid the hottest months in the south.

Our route was made from different GPS tracks:

- From our home to Orleans, we followed the St James way by Clemens-Sweerman (www.europafietsers.nl)

- From Orleans, we did the Eurovelo 6 along the Loire up to Digoin

- The last part to Girona was than the route by Paul Benjaminse, cycling unlimited to Barcelona (www.cyclingeurope.nl)

We usually also buy the paper route books to support the authors.

Tips

When we were in Paris, we returned back to Brussels for a couple of days with the Flixbus - very cheap and fast - a good idea if you want to do a side trip to a place where you will not be passing by.

In Roanne, we stayed in a B&B which is also a Hat museum and where they still make hats on demand. Worth checking it out (Musee du Chapeau).

In Nevers, we stayed on a camping on the other site of the Loire. Fantastic view of the city. Unfortunately we lost 10 days of photo's of this trip, and was in those 10 days.

Worth staying a little longer: Figueres & Girona
