Week 4 - Bergen to Göteborg
Day 22: Sandefjord to Horten - 57km In Sandefjord, you can take a 2.5 hour ferry to Strömstad in Sweden, one of the options if you do not have enough time to cycle or want to shorten the full NSCR. The weather is perfect now and we continue to Horten where the ferry will bring you in 30 minutes to Moss, still in Norway. We’re passing Tønsberg, Norway’s oldest city, and Asgårdstrand where Edvard Munch had his summerhouse. Day 23: Horten to Moss to Fredrikstad - 60km It’s Pen

Week 3 - NSCR - Bergen to Göteborg
Day 16: Kristiansand to Arendal - 88km Today is the 17th of May, Constitution day, the National day of Norway. Most of Norwegians which we are seeing are all wearing traditional clothing and are waving Norwegian flags. Todays target destination is Lillesand, a good 50 km. If it all goes well, we’ll continue up to Grimstad, thats + 20km. What happened was another 20 km extra up to Arendal. While we can see on Linda’s Strava that it is still a decent amount of elevation gain, i

Week 2 - NSCR - Bergen to Göteborg
Day 8: Stavanger to Egersund - 106km Looking at hotels or other types of lodging, it just seems we’ll have to more than 100 km today up to Egersund. When we called a campsite with cabins in Ogna, they told us they only open on June 20. Our B&B host in Stavanger tells us the route is not very hilly till Ogna and we’ve seen that we can always jump on a train for the last 20 km’s to Egersund. Luckily, we cycled the entire track upto Egersund as these last 20 km’s were the most

Week 1 - NSCR - Bergen to Göteborg
We’re on the road again. This time for our last part of the NSCR, completing the entire 6.600 km, which we started several years ago. When we explored how to get to Bergen, it turned out that the easiest and by far cheapest way was taking a flight. We flew with KLM and total cost for the 2 of us + bicycles was around 500 euro. We’re not sure yet how and when we will be returning home from Göteborg as there are several options by ferry and train. Day 1: to the Start Arriving

Final part of the NSCR
May 2026, we'll fly to Bergen (Norway) for our last leg of the North Sea cycle route. The 1450 km track completes the full cycle around the North Sea, in total somewhere between 6.000 and 6.500 km's. We started in 2017 and did different parts of the route in 2019, 2021 and the last one in 2025 covering Scotland and England. The current plan is to finalise the NSCR and board a ferry in Göteborg (Sweden), sailing to Kiel in Germany where we take a train to Aachen near the Belgi

Art Cities route - Belgium
Sometime in December, we're planning to cycle part of the Art Cities route in Belgium. It's one of the 9 "Flanders Iconic cycle routes" and goes from Brussels to Leuven, Mechelen, Antwerp, Ghent, Bruges and Ostend. We probably just cycle up to Ghent and return on day 5 back home. The intention is to combine the cycling with visiting at least 1 museum in each city, using our Belgian Museum pass. No dates set yet as it really also depends on the weather. If it does not work ou

Week 3 - North Shields to London
Day 15 - Burnham Market to Norwich - 81km: Yesterday, it was the first time that we were in a hotel where also other cyclists were staying, we are definitely not in the tour cycling season. Today's target destination is Norwich, around 80 km. When we were at Restrap, they told us that this part of the route would not have any steep climbs anymore and we are confident that we can easily manage distances between 80 and 100 km with our lighter packing and gravel bikes. When we l

Week 2 - North Shields to London
Day 9 - Scarborough to Wansford - 75km: The day starts more or less similar like yesterday, a road sign warns us that we’re having a 16% inclination for the next 3/4 mile. Easy. It afterwards goes down to Bridlington where we have lunch. Between Bridlington and Driffield, the NSCR goes via “The Way of the Roses”, a long distance coast to coast route fromYorkshire to Lancashire. The path is named after the War of the Roses between Lancaster (red rose) and the House of York (wh

Week 1 - North Shields to London
Day 1: To our start point in the UK. We first take a train from our hometown to Amsterdam. From Brussels midi station, there is a fast train on which you make a reservation for your bike. You can cycle to IJmuiden from Schiphol Airport, Amsterdam south train station or you can connect in Schiphol to Amsterdam central station (what we did). Arriving in Amsterdam, first apple cake with coffee and then around 25 km to the ferry terminal in IJmuiden to board the ferry to Newcast
