Day 8: Stavanger to Egersund - 106km

Looking at hotels or other types of lodging, it just seems we’ll have to more than 100 km today up to Egersund. When we called a campsite with cabins in Ogna, they told us they only open on June 20. Our B&B host in Stavanger tells us the route is not very hilly till Ogna and we’ve seen that we can always jump on a train for the last 20 km’s to Egersund.

Luckily, we cycled the entire track upto Egersund as these last 20 km’s were the most impressive of our trip so far. Between Ogna and Egersund, you’re on the old main road of West-Norway.

Day 9: Egersund to Flekkefjord - 73km

Just before we reach Sogndalsstranda, we’re meeting a German couple who started their trip in Malaga and are on the way to the Nordcape. They tell us that it gets really though going up to Flekkefjord. They only managed to do 25 km’s in 3 hours time and stopped for the day after 55 km’s. Our plan was 75 km’s and they are not even half our age.

it always helps if you have a confirmed booking without possibility to cancel. Gives the extra push and we arrived around 6 pm.

Day 10: Flekkefjord to Farsund - 63km

We’re leaving Flekkefjord in a light drizzle, strange as the forecast only mentions rain in the afternoon. It all goes smoothly and we hope that we will arrive in the late aftenoon in Vestbygd where we still have a few availabilities for appartments. If we’re than still in the mood, it will only be another 16 km for a much better option in Farsund. The llast couple of days have been rather tough and our muscles feel like they would appreciate a day of rest.

Suddenly, totally out of the blue, wind starts blowing very hard and it rains cats and dogs. Linda’s shoes are filling up with water. When we see a signpost direction Farsund making our route 30 km shorter, we have a management meeting in a bus shelter and both come to the conclusion that taking the shortcut is the best option.

Day 11: Farsund - 0km

Rest. Muscles need recovery.

Day 12: Farsund to Lindesnes - 40km

The perfect plan for today, it’s about 40 km to Lindesnes where we have booked a room in the Havhotell. When we arrive there in the early afternoon, we first unload our bikes and continue with our naked bikes to the Lindesnes lighthouse. Thats a to and fro of 24km in total. OK, this did not happen as the last 5km before we arrived, it started to rain like crazy again. We’ll do the to and fro tomorrow morning.

Day 13: Lindesnes to Høllen - 96km

Today, forecast gives us no rain, we started with the to and fro of the Lindesnes lighthouse and will continue today as far as possible. The next 2 days are forecasted as 100 % rain, from morning to evening. Tomorrow, we cycle as little as possible to get to Kristiansand where we will hide for the rain the day after tomorrow.

Day 14: Høllen to Kristiansand - 20km

In Høllen, we stayed in a cabin on a campsite. As this time of the year, all the campsites are open for campervans only and none of their facilities are operational yet, we came well prepared. Bought some pasta and tomatosauce for dinner.

Waking up in the morning, we could already hear the rain falling out of the sky.

First stop, 4 km down the road for breakfast with a hot chocolate.

The next 16 km to Kristiansand on paved cycleways with just 1 climb to 100 meters. Easy Peasy.

Day 15: A day in Kristiansand

Hiding for the rain.
